YOUR LYFT DRIVER IS MORE THAN A DRIVER
If you’re like me then you spend 50% of your time hoping in and out of Lyft’s on the weekend. Have you ever taken the time out of your busy day to chat with your driver? If you haven’t, I suggest you do it because most Lyft drivers aren’t just drivers. They are VP’s, journalists, actors, actresses, writers, publicists, bloggers, and entrepreneurs who happen to be making extra cash on the side.
Over the past year, I’ve been making it my duty to see where my Lyft drivers come from and what they do for a living. This past Monday (Jan 8, 2018), I had the pleasure to chat with Kimello. Kimello was interesting to me. There was something about him that kept me fishing for more information about who he was. Of course, he was happy to tell me his life story on our twenty-five minute drive to my destination.
Kimello was born in Waikiki, Hawaii. He moved to California in 2001 with his family. He has four kids and is married to a beautiful wife named Alana. Kimello relocated to California to pursue his acting career. Since living in California, he has landed several acting jobs as an “extra” in movies. He cares for his sick parents and his brother who battles cancer. What most impressed me was when he told me he wakes up every morning at 3am to search for acting auditions. What impressed me even more was when he told me he travels across the U.S.A. for auditions. That’s pure dedication and for that, I tip my hat to him.
The next time you’re in a Lyft, challenge yourself to get to know who your Lyft driver is and what they do outside of driving Lyft. You never know if your next driver is a big time hot shot that can help you land your dream job.
